Inner City vs Outer Space. That’s all I need to hear! This ‘red band’ trailer for UK action-comedy flick Attack the Block has made it’s way onto the interweb, ahead of the film’s US release. I have to admit I hadn’t really followed this film closely, or at all for that matter; having seen the name once or twice but deciding not click on the link or story. Boy am I regretting that now! If this trailer is any indication, Attack the Block has both action and humour in spades and should be an absolute riot.

It’s very rare I watch a trailer that makes me laugh as much as this one did. And it looks like the bunch of young actors get, and deliver, all the best lines. My favourite bit is the two lads (Mayhem and Probs) on the bridge with the water pistol.

Apparently it’s best to avoid finding out too much about the movie before going to see it (something I read after watching the trailer!). Having said that, the trailer doesn’t give away any more than you’d expect from a trailer these days, and it actually makes me really want to go and see it now. So, job done. I might avoid everything else though – just to be on the safe side.

I hope the film lives up to this trailer. With the guy behind Shaun of the Dead and TV’s Spaced, Edgar Wright, involved as Producer, Attack the Block probably can’t go too far wrong. And Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead and Paul) is always a great watch.

“Welcome to London, Muthaf**ka!” Enjoy!

Attack the Block follows a gang of tough inner-city kids who rob Sam (Jodie Whittaker) as she’s walking home in a scary South London neighbourhood. She flees when the gang is attacked by a small alien creature which falls from the sky. While Sam and the police hunt for the gang, a second wave of creatures falls. The gang grabs weapons, mount bikes, and set out to defend their turf. But this time, the creatures are much bigger. Savage and bestial, nothing will stand in their way. And the bunch of no-hope kids who just attacked Sam are about to become her only hope.

The Joe Cornish-directed, Edgar Wright-produced film stars Nick Frost, Jodie Whittaker, John Boyega, Simon Howard, Luke Treadaway, Franz Drameh, Leeon Jones, Sammy Williams, and Alex Esmail.

Attack the Block was released in the UK in May, and is released in the US on July 27. Oh please, oh please, let it come here.

So what do you think? Did you laugh as much as I did watching this? What’s your favourite Nick Frost film?
