The first trailer for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance has blazed its way into town. The first film was pretty average and took itself way too seriously, but this one look to be more balls-to-the-wall (almost literally) and ready to have a laugh at itself. I’m sure the film will still be terrible but, perhaps this time, terrible in a thoroughly entertaining kind of way.

There’s not too much we need to know about the plot really, other than Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage) is back and ready to kick some serious a** – Ghost Rider-style.

Enjoy!

I quite like that they’ve set the story in Europe and gone for a European action-style with the film. Some of the action looks superb, particularly the bridge scene. The last part of the trailer is a bit questionable though, but does show that they’re willing to have a laugh at their own expense – a good thing for the film’s sake, I think.

Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider (Nicolas Cage), is hiding out in remote Eastern Europe and struggling to repress his curse. Blaze is recruited by a sect to take on the devil, who wants to take over his mortal son’s body on the boy’s birthday.

Directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, the film stars Nicolas Cage, Idris Elba (Thor), Ciaran Hinds (Munich), Christoper Lambert (Highlander), Violante Placido (The American), and Fergus Riordan.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance opens in the US on 17 February, 2012. No New Zealand release date has been set – but expect it to be around the same time.

Based on the trailer, do you think this film will be any good? Does anyone still like Nicolas Cage?
