Mad Max: Fury Road, George Miller‘s continuation of the Mad Max saga, has been stuck in production hell. The $100m USD film, the first part of a new trilogy, was originally to be shot in Australia well over a year ago, but the weather gods conspired and the resulting unseasonal rain turned their apocalyptic wasteland into a flower-covered grassland.

So what do you do when your location turns into the set of the new Care Bears Movie? (Don’t panic, that’s not actually happening… yet.) You say “G’day!” to Africa of course. I guess the Outback ain’t as big as it use to be?

Anywho, as a result of having to ship the entire production to a distant land, some sneak peak pictures have surfaced of the Fury Road vehicles in storage (thanks to Australia’s The Age newspaper).

The vehicles of mass destruction ooze Mad Max and look like they’re ready to cause some serious havoc. I’ve also included a shot of the new look Interceptor and the insane FX Holden Ute, from when production was first announced. Very cool indeed.

I believe Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron are still attached to the project, so I can’t wait to see the magnificent Hardy as Mad Max Rockatansky. Both Hardy and Theron are certainly in the spotlight at the moment, with The Dark Knight Rises (Hardy) and Prometheus (Theron) looking set to be the two biggest films of 2012.

Shooting for Mad Max: Fury Road should finally begin later this year.

So are you ready to Max out again? If you could customise a vehicle for apocalyptic-style mass destruction, what would it be?
