Creepy. The word used by almost everyone who has reported on this awesome new piece of the Prometheus viral campaign; but not because it features alien life forms, desolate planets or terrified humans in spacesuits.

Meet David 8. He’s creepy. But in a good way.

A new promo clip has been launched by the ficticious Weyland Industries for its latest generation of cybernetic individual (played by the fabulous Michael Fassbender). True to the previous viral, it plays like a real ad from a real company. But the creep factor is amped up when we get to see the ‘human’ emotion David 8 is capable of. Fassbender perfectly articulates the detached/slightly off look you’d expect from a model that is the precursor to what we see in Alien (Ash, played by Ian Holm) and Aliens (Bishop, played by Lance Hendriksen).

As well as a clip, David 8 gets his own poster.

All of this is linked back to the websites launched to support the viral, weylandindustries.com and projectprometheus.com And as an added bonus there’s even a David 8 emotional range chart on the Weyland site (click here), which is also a little… (you guessed it).

The viral campaign for Prometheus has been superb so far – steering clear of spoilers and plot, but adding plenty of background and detail to the characters and universe we’ll see on screen.

Fassbender is perfect… and funny. I love the poses. It’s going to be really interesting to see where they take his character in the film. Somehow I doubt he’ll be the comic relief.
