Here are the prettiest things you’ll see all day: twelve new pictures from Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom, thanks to Collider.

I can’t get enough of this film, and a big part of the appeal is the aesthetic genius of the whole thing.  I love the cleanness of these images and how they give this kind of picture book feel to the film, especially working with the 1960s colour palette – the oversaturated greens and browns, and the awesomeness of Suzy’s (Kara Hayward) outfits.

Plus I like how each picture has so many points of interest and with Anderson’s kookiness evident throughout – in the little clothing details, the bike in the tree, the expressions and the props;  all of them telling their own mini story.

Don’t you just love these images?

Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, Moonrise Kingdom tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle.

Written by Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola, and directed by Wes Anderson, the film stars Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Jason Schwartzman, Harvey Keitel, Kara Hayward and Jared Gilman.

We’ll get to see Moonrise Kingdom from 30 August!
