Well look what we have here. One of the behind-the-scenes images just released on Prometheus Forum (via Collider) for Ridley Scott‘s sci-fi epic Prometheus shows an elderly Engineer standing with the Engineer from the beginning of the film. Ridley Scott recently revealed that the Blu-ray/DVD release of the film is likely to contain 20-30 minutes of deleted scenes (as an extended cut hopefully), so it looks like cuts were definitely made to the beginning of the film.

Regardless of whether you liked it, Prometheus is certainly the most talked about film in a long time. Debates rage all over the interweb on the deeper meaning of the film and the threads in the script left for us to tie together. Could this be a missing piece of the puzzle?

I won’t go into my theories here, in order to keep the post spoiler free. But do the robes worn by this older Engineer indicate that the Engineers once were more religious in nature – or perhaps have a religious side or sect? Religion vs Science is one of the main themes flowing through Prometheus, and this image certainly adds fuel to the fire.

Other images show the make-up and prosthetic work done on the Engineers in the film. Here’s the best of them:
