A new, slightly longer, teaser trailer for the final film in the Twilight series, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, has arrived online. And it’s everything a Twihard (or is that Twi-Hard?) could hope for. The first teaser was light on plot but this one spells out a lot more – almost too much. However, most fans have already read the book, so what does it matter.

In the final chapter, Bella and Edward’s now partially-grown daughter is accused of being a childturnedvampire, which in the Twilight universe is outlawed (unlike half human half vampire babies). This rather suspect evidence is all the menacing Volturi need to leave their European comforts and head stateside to destroy young Renesmee and clan Cullen. But the Cullens form an army with other vampire clans around the world to prevent their inevitable showdown from turning into a slaughter. I think that’s about right?

I’m most certainly not the target audience but, from what I see here, I’m sure fans are going to love this film. It has all the elements Twihards need: gooey moments between Bella and Edward, cheesy Jacob smiles, vampires leaping, werewolves growling and Bella exploring her inner (and outer) vamp – with the whole thing culminating in an epic battle to finish. They’ve certainly stuck to the formula that’s worked in the past and fans will no doubt rejoice in that.

So Twihards, does this trailer meet expectations? Anything noticeably exciting in the footage?

Bella and Edward’s daughter Renesmee is mistakenly identified as a child turned into a vampire, outlawed by the Volturi because of their uncontrollable nature. With the Volturi planning to destroy the Cullen family and Renesmee, the Cullens gather other vampire clans from around the world to protect their child from this false allegation.

Directed by Bill Condon, the film stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Dakota Fanning, Mackenzie Foy, Maggie Grace, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Michael Sheen, Nikki Read, Jamie Campbell Bower, Jackson Rathbone, Noel Fisher, Peter Facinell, and Billy Burke.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 will glow on big screens throughout New Zealand from November 15.
