A piece of concept art by Ryan Meinerding for Marvel’s Iron Man 3 has sent fans into a frenzy over the new suit Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) appears to be wearing. It’s known that Iron Man 3 will adapt parts of the 2005 comic book storyline ‘Extremis’ which sees Stark inject himself with nano-technology, making the suit part of his body and enabling him to call it forth through thought – quite the leap in tech.

However, the suit in this artwork doesn’t appear to be forming around Stark – it’s more like what’s still left on him. There are burn marks, with smoke and sparks coming from it. That’s not to say this isn’t a nano-suit, it’s just hard to be sure. Hopefully all will be revealed at the Comic-Con panel on July 14. Stay tuned.
