We’ve gone red band crazy! Here’s our second one in two days. Rap legend RZA makes his directorial debut with the martial arts action-fest that is The Man with the Iron Fists, and this new trailer shows just how ridiculous and fun this film will be. Presented by Quentin Tarantino (Kill Bill) and co-written by Eli Roth (Hostel)… need I say more?

The Man with the Iron Fists looks to combine classic martial arts styling with eye-popping (literally!) visuals and a hip hop soundtrack. Set in 19th century China, RZA plays a town blacksmith who, during a clan war, calls upon an ancient energy to transform himself into a badass human weapon in order to save his adopted people.

Russell Crowe plays the ominously-named ‘Jack Knife’ and adds some serious star wattage to proceedings. Lucy Liu and WWE’s Dave Bautista also join in on the fun as ‘Madame Blossom’ and ‘Brass Body’.

Here’s the trailer! Note: this is red band so is not for the squeamish – or anyone under 18

Yep, looks pretty mental alright. But I reckon if you park your brain at the door this film will be a blast. And although Russell Crowe looks like a fish out of water, I have a sneaking suspicion he’ll steal the show.

What do you think?

Since his arrival in China’s Jungle Village, the town’s blacksmith has been forced by radical tribal factions to create elaborate tools of destruction. When the clans’ brewing war boils over, the stranger channels an ancient energy to transform himself into a human weapon. As he fights alongside iconic heroes and against soulless villains, one man must harness this power to become saviour of his adopted people.

Directed by RZA, the film stars Russell Crowe, RZA, Jamie Chung, Lucy Liu, Pam Grier, Dave Bautista, Zhu Zhu, Daniel Wi, Cung Le, Rick Yune, Chia Hui Liu and Byron Mann.

The Man with the Iron Fists hits US screens on 2 November. No New Zealand release date has been scheduled yet.
