“I am Siege Face”. Just one of many hilarious moments in the first full-length trailer for Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa. If you’re a Steve Coogan fan, you’re gonna want to see this.

North Norfolk Digital, home to self-proclaimed broadcasting legend Alan Partridge (Coogan), comes under armed siege when fellow DJ Pat Farrell (played by the brilliant by Colm Meaney) runs amuck after being sacked. It’s up to Alan to use his talent (ahem) for talk to negotiate the hostages’ freedom and save the day – not that he has a choice in the matter.

Declan Lowney (Wild about Harry and TV’s Father Ted and Little Britain) directs, while I’m Alan Partridge regulars Felicity Montagu, Phil Cornwell and Simon Greenall join in the fun.

No New Zealand release date yet, but on this evidence you’d better believe there’ll be one.

To quote Alan himself: “Back of the net!” This is brilliant. Not only is it damn funny but none of Alan’s quirks have been lost in translation to the big screen – as so often happens.

Meaney is a perfect foil for Coogan. The pair’s impeccable comedic timing and contrasting styles work a treat.

Hopefully there’s enough in the story to keep us rolling in the aisles to the very end – it certainly looks like there’s still plenty of fun in the final act.

This is definitely a ‘must see’ for me.

How about you? Favourite line from the trailer?
