“The arrogance of man is thinking nature is in our control…and not the other way round.”

The first trailer in December for Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla revealed little but left us in awe. This new trailer ups the awe-factor considerably, without giving too much more away – save it for the cinema I say!

There’s not much more detail the official plot synopsis – “Godzilla pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence”. But it looks like the US Government (as is often the case in blockbusters) has managed to keep everyone’s favourite metropolis-mashin’ lizard a secret for decades – until he escapes, or is let loose to fight other monsters who smash cities like angry children do Lego.

Co-writer Frank Darabont has described this incarnation of the mighty lizard as “a terrifying force of nature”. If you don’t believe him check out the last spine-chilling shot at the end of the trailer, and the sheer size of Godzilla in the new poster (below).

Godzilla stomps into theatres on 15 May and has a great cast to back up the epic action, including: Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass), Bryan Cranston (Argo, TV’s Breaking Bad), Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene), Juliette Binoche (Chocolat), David Strathairn (Good Night & Good Luck) and Ken Watanabe (Inception).

It’s hard to contain my excitement for this movie. Everything about it looks epic and we know that Edwards (of Monsters acclaim) adds a great human touch to this sort of flick – although we’ve seen little of how the human elements, especially Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen’s lead characters, come in play.

But for now, there’s plenty to drool over and speculate on: Just how was the US government able to keep a creature that large under wraps? What sort of creature is that falling from sky? And what on earth is the glowing object underground?

CAN…NOT…WAIT! How about you?
