Funny: Alec Baldwin & John Krasinski talk trash in New Era’s “The Rivalry” ad

This made me laugh out loud when I saw it. Alec Baldwin (It’s Complicated & TV’s 30 Rock) and John Krasinski (It’s Complicated & TV’s The Office) trash talking each other as diehard baseball fans. The ad is for New Era, a baseball cap manufacturer, and cleverly utilises the 100+ year rivalry between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox – a rivalry which has been labeled ‘the best rivalry in sports’ and results in a 50% increase in TV ratings when the two teams play. Ok, this post is probably only going to appeal to my currently non-existent Amercian audience but I wanted to share it with you anyway. My favourite part of the ad, being a New York fan, is Alec Baldwin’s quip “First of all, Yankees fans don’t consider Philadelphia to be a legitimate sports town, John, you know that.” Followed closely by “How are you a Yankees fan at all? It’s like being a huge fan of fascism,” where Baldwin replies “No. It’s like being a huge fan of winning. Which we do, relentlessly.” Alec Baldwin has resurrected his acting career in recent years, after its nosedive in the late 1990’s, and is now one of the funniest men around. John Krasinski is hilarious in The Office and we’ll definitely be seeing a lot more of him in the future. Even if you’re not a...

Admit One’s first post! Here we go…

“Bringing New Zealand Cinema to the World, and World Cinema to New Zealand.” Well, I can hardly believe it. After a couple of false starts and some procrastination, here is Admit One’s first post. Ok, it was lots of procrastination. And by a couple of false starts, I mean several. But enough about that, lets get on with talking about film! I love film – too much according to most of my friends. After reading loads of great film blogs coming out of the US and UK, I saw an opportunity to start one in New Zealand – focusing on the superb films coming out of little ol’ New Zealand and the great films coming here from around the world. Admit One will be a site where film nerds and film fans can get their fill of the latest movie news and have chance to talk about all things film. The site will feature movie news that includes rumoured productions, casting info, images from the set, movie marketing, interviews, premieres and reviews – and getting this news  to you as soon as possible. Admit One is designed to showcase independent film – all of those great movies that don’t have the large Hollywood marketing budgets and that we often find out about after they’ve been and gone from our cinemas. And just for good measure, we’ll throw in some...
