A talented Olsen? Say it ain’t so! Elizabeth Olsen is younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and stars in the new indie thriller Martha Marcy May Marlene. And judging by this trailer, the girl has some serious acting chops.

I’ve read some great things about this film since it premiered at the recent Sundance Film Festival. Fellow film nerds have been raving, and this first trailer does nothing but enhance that buzz. Ok, any friend of mine will tell you I love ‘dark and gritty’ so the film is already up my street, but I can honestly say this film looks fantastic! Not only do you have the ‘escaping from a cult’ aspect to the story, it appears our lead character isn’t sure ‘what’s real and what’s not’. I’m sold! At the very least this film will make for a very interesting watch.

Martha Marcy May Marlene also stars Oscar nominee John Hawkes, who was fantastic in Winter’s Bone – one of my favourite films of the last 12 months. The haunting nature of the Martha Marcy May Marlene trailer reminds me a bit of Winter’s Bone actually.
