As your designated On the Road correspondent, I’m pleased to present to you twelve gorgeous new images from the film, courtesy of Cinema Blend.

These pictures are cooler and grittier than any we’ve seen so far, featuring some of the film’s support cast, including Kirsten Dunst as Camille, Viggo Mortensen as Old Bull Lee and Tom Sturridge as Carlo Marx. I like that we’re seeing a little more action in these. Also, the tone of these images fits in with the book more than the trailer or poster does.

See the new images below, and then travel back in time to the first images released, the poster and the trailer.

What do you think of the images?

Dean and Sal are the portrait of the Beat Generation. Their search for “It” results in a fast paced, energetic roller coaster ride with highs and lows throughout the U.S.

On the Road is directed by Walter Salles, written by Jack Kerouac and Jose Rivera, and produced by Francis Ford Coppola. The film stars Sam Riley (Control), Garrett Hedlund (Country Strong) and Kristen Stewart (Welcome to the Rileys), and co-stars Kirsten Dunst (Melancholia), Viggo Mortensen (The Road), Amy Adams (Junebug) and Tom Sturridge (The Boat that Rocked).

No date yet for On the Road’s New Zealand release, but the film will debut at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival in May.
