There’s no slowing down for Scarlett Johansson. Hot off The Avengers, here’s the first official image of her in Under the Skin, the third film from Brit director Jonathan Glazer (Sexy Beast).
This time out Scarlett’s the one from another world: “Johansson plays an alien on earth, disguised as the perfect aesthetic form of a mesmerizing woman. She scours remote highways and desolate scenery looking to use her greatest weapon to snare human prey — her voracious sexuality. She is deadly efficient, but over time becomes drawn to and changed by the complexity of life on earth. With this new found humanity and weakening alien resolve, she finds herself on a collision course with her own kind. Taking her point of view throughout, the film presents a unique look at our world through alien eyes.”
This is a rather innocuous first image, but there is an underlying menace to it – like a spider waiting for a fly.
I’m a huge Jonathan Glazer fan. He has an incredible visual eye so expect this film to look the business – but remain raw and gritty in true Glazer style. If you haven’t seen his previous films, Sexy Beast and Birth, you’ll probably recognise Glazer’s work from such music videos as Radiohead’s Street Spirit and Karma Police, or Jamiroquai’s Virtual Insanity.
Based on the Michel Faber novel of the same name, the film is now in post production in London. The image is courtesy of @FilmNation (via Firstshowing), one of the film’s producers.
Has this image piqued your interest? Anyone else a big Jonathan Glazer fan?
