When you release a film where giant human-piloted robots take on skyscraper-sized monsters from the deep your promo needs to be suitably epic.

The trailers and posters we’ve seen so far for Guillermo del Toro‘s Pacific Rim have fit the bill nicely, but now a truly enormous banner poster has been released – so big it can barely fit on screen.

For use in cinemas, this “Super Banner” is a whopping 14543 x 1024 pixels – that’s eight HD TV’s wide! It depicts Jaegers (us) battling Kaiju (them) in the pouring rain, while the sea parts, motorways shatter and buildings crumble.

Crimson Typhoon, the Chinese Jaeger, looks particularly impressive with its spinning claws. The Aussie Jaeger, Striker Eureka, is also seen being launched from a large fortress-like building.

The entire banner can be viewed by clicking on the thumbnail below. We’ve also cut out the best bits so you can get a closer look at the action.

Pacific Rim stomps into Kiwi cinemas on 11 July – one day ahead of the US.

Epic enough for ya?

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee —who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Directed by Guillermo del Toro the film stars Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Ron Perlman, Burn Gorman, and Charlie Day.

Pacific Rim opens 11 July, 2013.
