Synopsis
To escape the civil war in Sri Lanka, a former soldier, a young woman and a little girl pose as a family. They end up settling in a housing project outside Paris. They barely know one another, but try to build a life together.
Thoughts
Before the screening, fellow journos were (surprisingly and uniformly) muted in their expectation for the new Jacques Audiard film – something I couldn’t quite understand. Well, I can tell you Audiard delivers yet another gripping Masterpiece. Don’t let the slow build up fool you – this film delivers in spades. My second favourite film from Cannes.
