Quite out of the blue, teaser posters for both Machete Kills and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For have been released. These Robert Rodriguez sequels haven’t even been shot yet, so it’s more than likely these little teasers have been timed to take advantage of the Cannes Film Festival which opened today. But it’s great to see these projects are moving forward. Filming for both movies is scheduled to take place in the US summer. Robert is going to be a busy boy.
As you’d expect at this stage, the posters are relatively bland. I think they could’ve done a little more with the Machete Kills one but The Sin City: A Dame to Kill For poster definitely benefits from its Frank Miller artwork.
In Machete Kills, “The U.S. government recruits Machete to battle his way through Mexico in order to take down an arms dealer who looks to launch a weapon into space.” A ludicrously brilliant synopsis for what is sure to be a film containing even more carnage than the original. The poster confirms Mel Gibson‘s addition in the cast, with Mel set to play the chief baddy.
For Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (being shot after Machete Kills) Rosario Dawson, Michael Madson and Mickey Rourke are all set to reprise their roles. Expect many more to follow.
I’m already looking forward to both of these films, especially the long-awaited Sin City sequel. And, of course, we’ll keep you up to date with all the promo as it comes out.
Are you excited for either of these? Do you think Mel Gibson’s character will lampoon the actor’s off-screen troubles?
