UTU REDUX……FILM OF THE WEEK New Zealand | 118 minutes | Action, Drama, War Director: Geoff Murphy (Goodbye Pork Pie) Cast: Anzac Wallace, Bruno Lawrence, Tim Elliott, Kelly Johnson, Wi Kuki Kaa, Tania Bristowe A striking restoration and brand new edit sees the classic Kiwi Western, set during the 19th century New Zealand Land Wars, return to our screens. The films opening this week promise much. But can they deliver? . CARRIE……FILM OF THE WEEK USA | 99 minutes | Horror Director: Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don’t Cry) Cast: Chloë Grace Moretz, Julianne Moore, Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Gabriella Wilde, Alex Russell, Michelle Nolden, Max Topplin The second cinematic adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel in which a shy girl is bullied by her classmates and her religious nut-job mother…until she discovers she has telekinetic powers. Payback time. Not usually a fan of remakes but I have my fingers crossed that the exciting Peirce-Moretz combo can deliver the goods. Plus it’s supposed to better represent the novel than the original flick. Distributor: Sony Pictures .
