The first trailer for Seth MacFarlane‘s man & bear buddy comedy Ted has been released. It should come as no surprise that the trailer’s red band and full of potty-mouthed goodness. Close your eyes and cover your ears, children.

MacFarlane’s first directorial effort merges real life with animation as John Bennett (Mark Walberg) struggles to balance the time spent with the two most important people in his life: his girlfriend (played by the adorable Mila Kunis) and his best friend (a teddy bear voiced by the incomparable Seth MacFarlane). Aside from the fact the best friend’s an animated bear, the story looks like it’ll play out as you’d expect. However, throw in plenty of Family Guy-style humour and you have a completely different animal all together. So will this live up to MacFarlane’s TV efforts?

If you’re over 18… Enjoy!

This film’s definitely going to appeal to MacFarlane fans. And, as a fan, I can’t wait to see it. The white trash name game clip is brilliant. I laughed. Then cried. Is it wrong that I know so many women with those names?

MacFarlane looks to have some skills as a feature film director. No one has been able to get a convincing performance out of Wahlberg in years. (Sorry Mark. I still love ya. Yes, you were great in The Fighter. Please don’t beat the sh*t out of me).

So does this tickle your furry bone or are you going to picket outside the cinema? Anyone else slightly thrown by the fact the bear’s voice jumps between Family Guy‘s Peter and Brian in each clip?

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane brings his boundary-pushing brand of humor to the big screen for the first time as writer, director and voice star of Ted. In the live action/CG-animated comedy, he tells the story of John Bennett, a grown man who must deal with the cherished teddy bear who came to life as the result of a childhood wish…and has refused to leave his side ever since.

Directed by Seth MacFarlane, the film stars Mark Wahlberg (Contraband), Mila Kunis (Black Swan), Giovanni Ribisi (Avatar), Patrick Warburton (Family Guy) and Joel McHale (TV’s Community).

TED will add a touch of crass to our screens on July 12, 2012.
