The words ‘fever pitch’ would be an understatement to describe my excitement for Prometheus, which is but a week away from hitting our screens. In the last couple of weeks I’ve had a self-imposed ban on all new featurettes for fear of discovering anything new. But this is an exception, because it’s not only cool but it contains no further spoilers.

In what is possibly the film’s last featurette, we get a short insight into the design and function of the striking starship featured in the movie (called Prometheus), complete with comment from Director Ridley Scott, Writer Damon Lindelof and Production Designer Arthur Max.

The ship was one of the things that floored me when I saw the first teaser trailer. It’s in complete contrast to the commercial towing vessel Nostromo from Alien, but yet you would never think it belonged anywhere other than in Scott’s Alien universe. Nice work Ridley (and Co).

Note: We get the film June 7. This is the US version.

Good featurette? Lovin’ the ship design?

A team of explorers find a clue to the origins of man on Earth, leading them on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Directed by Ridley Scott, the film’s cast includes: Noomi Repace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, Patrick Wilson, Logan Marshall-Green, Rafe Spall, Kate Dickie and Sean Harris. New Zealand’s own Weta Digital is involved with the film’s special effects.

Prometheus lands in New Zealand on 7 June, 2012.
