Although it won’t be released until 2014, this teaser poster for Paddington filled me with joy today – an iconic character (and fond memory) from my childhood will finally be making it onto the big screen. The extremely polite, marmalade and cocoa – loving bear with the blue duffel coat is set to star in his own adventure based on the popular children’s books by Michael Bond.

We can assume the film will show us how Paddington Bear came to live with the Brown family in London, but will it go back as far as his Peruvian roots? No word on casting yet but the film will be helmed by Paul King, who’s known for his directorial work on the TV series The Mighty Boosh. I’m sure Paddington will be a less strange affair.

Apparently the film will be a CGI and live-action blend. Fingers crossed it won’t up end up being another Garfield or Scooby-Doo horror show. Please look after this bear. Thank you.

Are you a Paddington Bear fan? Excited for this movie? Should they have made it full CGI?
