All the promo released thus far for Tim Burton‘s new stop motion animated feature Frankenweenie indictates that Burton is indeed back on form – happy days! And now for our viewing pleasure we get this very clever 360° set tour, hosted by producer Allison Abbate.

The tour drops you in the middle of the film’s township of New Holland, during their ‘Dutch Day’ festivities – a celebration of the town’s “rather dubious” Dutch heritage. From there you can then look around every which way, a la Google Maps, while listening to the commentary. Our heroes Victor and Sparky are there, standing amidst the choas that appears to have ensued. As well as perusing the set, you can click on various points to gain access to cool stuff like character bios and concept art. Nice.

Cool hey?

After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new leash on life can be monstrous.

Directed by Tim Burton, the film stars the voice talent of Winona Ryder, Martin Short, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron, James Hiroyuki Liao and Conchata Ferrell.

Frankenweenie livens up New Zealand theatres on October 18, 2012.
