A quick Man of Steel update for you, ahead of Wednesday’s rumoured new trailer release.

In a clip, released as a distorted communique, General Zod issues a chilling warning to the world that we have been sheltering one of “his citizens” and if we don’t hand over the last son of Krypton, or he doesn’t voluntarily surrender, the world will suffer the consequences. Yikes!

Finally, we’re about to get up close and personal with the film’s chief baddie, played by the brilliant Michael Shannon.

How cool does Zod’s voice sound? Goosebumps!

I wonder what all that ‘You Are Not Alone’ business is about? Guess we’ll find out on Wednesday.

Clark Kent/Kal-El is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha and Jonathan Kent, Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Directed by Zack Snyder, the film stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Christopher Meloni, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue and Dylan Sprayberry.

Man of Steel flys into New Zealand cinemas on June 13, 2013.
