Last week the first trailer for Rush thrilled us all. Now Ron Howard‘s Formula One drama has a US trailer, containing extra everything: characters, story, and action.

Rush showcases the duel for the 1976 Formula One Championship between extroverted playboy Brit James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) and the steely, methodical Austrian Nicki Lauda (Daniel Brühl) – a championship that went down to the very last race. But that was only half the drama. Disqualifications, legal challenges and Lauda’s near-fatal crash added to the tension.

Shot in Germany and the UK, the film has a gloriously authentic look and feel, with exhilarating racing backing up the off track drama. Rush races into cinemas on 11 September.

Enjoy!

And I thought the first trailer was good. This is sensational.

Why they thought it was a good idea to leave a lot of this footage out of the international trailer, I’ll never know. But hey, thanks to the internet, we get to enjoy this version too – and in glorious high def.

There’s much more character and story development; with a focus on Hunt and Lauda’s relationships. It also provides a glimpse of the mutual respect the drivers develop for each other, despite their bitter rivalry.

And we get to see Olivia Wilde in this trailer, as Hunt’s ex wife Suzy Miller. Despite their marriage ending in late 1975, Miller appears to play an important part in the story – a confidant when Hunt’s life begins to overwhelm him.

I hope they don’t release another trailer. This one is more than enough to drive people into the cinema – pardon the terrible pun.
