Superman deserves a super trailer. Well, he’s got one.
The latest, and greatest, trailer for Man of Steel shows this superhero reboot is going to be something special. Right from the opening shot – a civil war on Krypton – we are presented with a truly epic re-imagining.
After his exile to Earth, Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) must come-of-age and find himself in order to become the beacon of hope our world needs – with his two fathers Jor-El (Russell Crowe) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner) providing plenty of inspiration.
Throwing a spanner in the works is General Zod (Michael Shannon), who tracks down theĀ Krypton’s last son and threatens to destroy humanity if Superman doesn’t surrender to him. Cue a showdown for the ages.
With Zac Synder (Watchmen) in the director’s chair and Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Rises) as producer, Man of Steel should deliver the goods. We’ll all have our fingers crossed come 13 June.
Spectacular. That’s some trailer.
I’m glad it primarily focused on the early part of the story. Things get a little messy towards the end but at least they kept most of the last third act under wraps – long may that continue.
Cavill cuts an impressive figure as Superman, as does Shannon as Zod – love his psycho hissy-fit. And anyone who worried about Crowe and Costner’s fitness for their parts can now stop – how awesome does Crowe look as Jor-El?
Speaking of doubts, those who thought Nolan would stamp his Batman blueprint on proceedings can breath a sigh of relief too.
Is this the Superman re-imagining you’ve been waiting for? Anyone else spot the LexCorp sign at 2min 18sec?
Directed by Zack Snyder, the film stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Christopher Meloni, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue and Dylan Sprayberry.
Man of Steel opens 13 June, 2013.
