Synopsis:

A father and daughter live a perfect but mysterious existence in Forest Park, a beautiful nature reserve near Portland, Oregon, rarely making contact with the outside world. A small mistake tips them off to authorities, and they are plucked from their hidden world and put in the charge of social services. Struggling to adapt to their new surroundings, they embark on a perilous journey in search of a place to call their own.

Thoughts:

This is no WINTER’S BONE, so don’t go in with that expectation. But it’s still a very good film and a captivating father/daughter tale.

This slow burn character study relies on its leads, and they don’t disappoint. Ben Foster is always a great watch and Kiwi actress Thomasin Harcourt Mckenzie shows us exactly why everyone has their eye on her.

Rating:

7.5/10
