‘Separated by war. Tested by battle. Bound by friendship.’ Steven Spielberg‘s World War One epic War Horse opens in cinemas today. So we thought we’d bring you the best of the promotional clips released for the film – for those who want their final fix before going to the cinema.

War Horse has certainly divided people’s opinions. The film will undoubtedly be touching and sentimental, with old school sensibilities, so if that’s your thing then you’ll probably love it.

The film has some serious acting talent, with three of my favourite UK actors in it – Peter Mullan (Tyrannosaur, Children of Men), Emily Watson (Punch-Drunk Love, Red Dragon) and Eddie Marsan (The Disappearance of Alice Creed, Tyrannosaur).

Here are the four best clips I found on the net:

So will you be going to see War Horse? What’s your favourite touching and sentimental war film?

A tale of loyalty, hope and tenacity set against a sweeping canvas of rural England and Europe during the First World War. War Horse begins with the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert, who tames and trains him. When they are forcefully parted, the film follows the extraordinary journey of the horse as he moves through the war, changing and inspiring the lives of all those he meets—British cavalry, German soldiers, and a French farmer and his granddaughter—before the story reaches its emotional climax in the heart of No Man’s Land.

Based on the Michael Morpurgo book, and directed by Steven Spielberg, the film stars Jeremy Irvine, Peter Mullan, Emily Watson, Niels Arestrup, David Thewlis, Tom Huddleston, Benedict Cumberpatch, Celine Buckens, Eddie Marsan, Robert Emms, Patrick Kennedy and Toby Kebbel.

War Horse opens in New Zealand cinemas tonight!
