A third trailer for Disney–Pixar‘s highly anticipated Monsters Inc. follow up, Monster’s University, has arrived. Once again we see why this sequel to my favourite Pixar film will be as entertaining as the original.
From previous trailers we know that before they were bestest pals, Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) and James P. Sullivan (John Goodman) were bitter rivals – each trying to be champion scarer at M.U.
But we now know that they put their differences aside, and team up for the first time, so their misfit fraternity can win the school’s legendary ‘Scare Games’.
For us, those games begin 11 July.
They’ve nailed the college flick vibe, with plenty of nods to such classics as Animal House and Revenge of the Nerds.
But rather than being a stale rehash of what’s gone before, this feels a like fresh and fun take on the genre – not hard to do when monsters populate the campus.
Speaking of Monsters, there are so many new and exciting creature designs in this latest trailer – love the evil all-girl fraternity. But once again, the key cast upstage the rest – with Art (Charlie Day) proving he is quite the scene stealer.
I’m struggling to contain my excitement and I hope this is the last trailer we see. I might not be able to take any more!
You ready to go back to school? Anyone else notice the slug gag has changed ever so slightly? It’s still hilarious (see the previous trailer here for comparison) but I wonder why they changed it?
.
Directed by Dan Scanlon, the film features the voice talent of Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Ken Jeong, John Goodman, John Ratzenberger, Joel Murray, Kelsey Grammer, Rob Riggle and Frank Oz.
Monsters University opens 11 July in 3D and 2D.
