The Cannes Film Festival is great for many reasons. One of those reasons is that a boat load of promo gets released for some of the biggest upcoming productions. This week teaser posters have featured heavily. And you’d be hard pushed to find a better one than this beauty for Skyfall (courtsey of 007.com). Classic and cool. It would definitely go on my wall.

Of course there will be more plot-based posters later, but this is a great start. It uses the iconic James Bond gun barrel imagery to get us all excited, and makes the other teaser posters we’ve seen recently look all the more bland and lifeless. Bond (Daniel Craig) is looking particularly intense – from all accounts a good reflection of how he’ll be in the film.

Plot details for Skyfall are still scarce, aside from the short synopsis below. Apparently the Cannes crowd have been treated to the teaser trailer, or a variation of, already. Good news though, we get to see it this coming Monday. Our first footage. I can’t wait!

In Skyfall, Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Directed by Sam Mendes, the film stars Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Helen McCrory, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Albert Finney and Berenice Marlohe.

Skyfall hits New Zealand screens on November 22, 2012.
