Monsters Inc is my favourite Disney–Pixar film, so suffice to say I’m already in countdown mode for the prequel, Monsters University, even though it doesn’t open until 20 June next year.

The story of how Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) and James P. Sullivan (John Goodman) became friends will no doubt be as amusing as the original, with the university setting providing plenty of scope for hilarious frat house hijinks – check out the teaser trailer to see what I mean.

It has been a while since we heard anything from the Disney promo team, so it’s great to see some fun images and posters arrive on the scene this week… which we’ve complied for you here.

If you can’t wait till June to get your big screen Monsters fix, Monsters Inc is being released in the animation friendly 3D format on January 17. Happy New Year!

You excited for Monsters University?

 Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. “Monsters University” unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.

Directed by Dan Scanlon, the film features the voice talent of Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Ken Jeong, John Goodman, John Ratzenberger, Joel Murray, Kelsey Grammer, Rob Riggle and Frank Oz.

Monsters University opens in New Zealand cinemas on June 11, 2013, in 3D and 2D.
