Synopsis

Star, a teenage girl from a troubled home, runs away with a traveling sales crew who drive across the American Midwest selling magazine subscriptions door to door. Finding her feet in this gang of teenagers, one of whom is Jake, she soon gets into the group’s lifestyle of hard-partying nights, law-bending days, and young love.

Thoughts

I had no idea what to expect from this going in, but came out wanting to see it again – if my schedule allowed. This engrossing, coming-of-age road trip is only let down by it’s length. At almost three hours and scenes become slightly repetitive – a two hour cut for theatrical release would be perfect.

Sasha Lane puts in the type of debut performances that should make her career and Shia LeBeouf once again shows us what a frustratingly good actor he can be.
