If you following this website, you’ll know there’s one time of year that can’t come around quick enough… and that’s Cannes. Well, it’s almost upon us and I couldn’t be more excited.

A stronger line-up on paper this year, that I really hope delivers.

As you know, I also love to hunt out the hidden gems. Films I didn’t know much about before the festival but can’t wait for everyone to see afterwards. This is possibly the most exciting part. You go in with no expectations whatsoever and come out with a huge smile on your face, telling anyone who’ll listen just how awesome the film is – poor sods.

Cannes never disappoints in the hidden gem department. Here’s hoping this year is no exception.

Hidden gems aside, here are some of the films I’m most excited to see…

The Lighthouse
There is huge buzz on this genre indie. Apparently quite the wild ride.

The Dead Don’t Die
Bill Murray. Adam Driver. Jim Jarmusch. Nuff said.

Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood
It’s Tarantino… in Cannes! Who wouldn’t be excited!?!

A Hidden Life
Love me a bit of Malick.

Sorry We Missed You
Ken Loach rarely disappoints

Little Joe
You had me at sci-fi!

Pain and Glory
Antonio Banderas teams up with Pedro Almodóvar. Can’t wait!

Rocketman
Who wouldn’t want to see this?!? Trying desperately not to hype myself up too much.

Maradona
As a footy fan, I have to see this.

Too Old to Die Young
Yes, it’s TV… but it’s Nicolas Winding Refn!
